The Smith Family is a children's charity helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.
The Smith Family assist Sanderson Middle School in the development of programs and activities which support student engagement and learning. Programs and activities include:
Learning for Life Scholarships
These scholarships subsidise expenses for low-income families by allowing students to pay extra educational costs associated with a wide variety of learning activities. Maintaining a Learning for Life scholarship is tied to attendance and performance.
Jazz Workshop Australia Annual Music Camp
Musicians from Sanderson Middle School are given the opportunity to attend a week long camp in Sydney. The students join students from around Australia to study, rehearse and perform with Australia’s top jazz artists and teachers.
Parent and Community Engagement Program
Hosting Parent Yarns throughout the year offering a forum for members of the parent community a chance to network with other parents and some learning opportunities.
