15(A) TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT
 
LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES
 
The RTO must have learning and assessment strategies for all courses on their scope of registration. Template can be found on the RTO server in the Forms folder/ Templates folder. The VET Coordinator must ensure that the learning and assessment strategies are checked for currency at the start of each calendar year.
 
Procedure:
 
The learning and assessment strategy must contain
 
· Evidence that the RTO owns the current training package
· Industry needs
· Letters of support from local industry
· Potential target groups
· Employers
· Clients
· Delivery Modes
· Assessment Modes
· Core and Elective options
· Resources and facilities to be used for training undertaken
· Trainers and their qualifications (qualifications/skills matrix)
· Language, literacy & numeracy support
 
ASSESSMENT PLANS
 
The RTO must have in place detailed assessment plans for all qualifications and courses on their scope of registration detailed to the unit of competence being delivered, with each element and performance criteria addressed. Template can be found on the RTO server in the templates folder.
It is the responsibility of each trainer to ensure the assessment plans are in place and current before the beginning of delivery of each unit of competency. Assessment plans can be found on the Nhulunbuy High School intranet under RTO2378, as part of the course index.
 
TRAINING AGREEMENTS / MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
 
Where external training and assessment takes place the RTO must have a written contract or memorandum of understanding in place outlining responsibilities of each party, template can be found on the RTO server in the admin folder, templates folder.

Each memorandum of understanding must be recorded in the MOU register and in the VET management committee minutes.
 
It is the responsibility of the CEO to ensure that all memorandums of understandings are carried out in accordance with the contractual arrangement, contained in the memorandum of understanding.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS MATRIX
 
The RTO must have a skills matrix in place for all qualifications and courses on their scope of registration and copies of qualifications and/or supporting evidence of qualifications. All copies of qualifications and skills matrix’s can be found in the VET staff files, VET office.
 
It is the responsibility of each trainer to supply the RTO with a skills matrix and copies of relevant qualifications related to the units of competency offered, the skills matrix must be detailed to the element of each unit of competency.

15(B) VALIDATION
 
Purpose:
 
The RTO must validate its assessment strategies by:
 
· Reviewing, comparing and evaluating the assessment processes, tools, and evidence contributing to judgements made by a range of assessors against the same competency standards, at least annually
· Document any action taken to improve the quality and consistency of assessment.
· To meet AQTF each VET Program will conduct validation processes in accordance with the VET schedule, as follows:
 
Certificate 2 in Education & Skills Development (Non-industry specific)
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
 
Certificate 1, 2 & 3 in Business and Certificate III in Business Administration
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
• Validation processes carried out with RioTinto Alcan Gove
• Inspection of facilities by Group Training/Relevant Industry Employers/Trainers
SSABSA VET Business
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
• Inspection of facilities by Group Training/Relevant Industry Employers/Trainers
 
Certificate 2 Information Technology
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
 
Certificate 1 Engineering
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
• Inspection of facilities by Group Training/Relevant Industry Employers/Trainers
 
Certificate 1&2 Hospitality and I & II (Kitchen Operations)
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys
• Inspection of facilities by Group Training/Relevant Industry Employers/Trainers
 
Certificate 1&2 in Retail Operations
• Feedback from clients and work placement supervisors via post-course surveys.

The VET Coordinator with the assistance of the VET administration will ensure that the validation process is followed on an annual basis.
 
To meet AQTF Standards the RTO will encapsulate the improvements in the followings processes/activities:
 
• VET meeting minutes
• Risk Management
• The Corrective Action Log
• Stakeholder feedback summary reports
• Annual Self Audit Report
