13(A) School Based Apprentices/Trainees
 
It is the policy of Nhulunbuy High school RTO 2378 that students undertaking a School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship must prior to signing up with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre be interviewed by the NTCET and VET Coordinators. Parents must be a part of this process.
 
To cater for the needs of School Based Apprentices, Nhulunbuy High School will;
 
1. Work with the student to ensure educational choices are achievable as a part time student.
2. Lend academic and welfare support to the student wherever needed.
 
Students with additional / special needs
 
It is the policy of Nhulunbuy High School RTO 2378 to cater where reasonably possible with students with additional or special needs.
 
The students' needs will be addressed on a case by case basis with the following counselling process
 
1. On enrolment the student is counselled into the course that suits the individual’s needs
2. Where disability or numeracy/literacy is an issue follow up is carried out by the learning and assessment centre to identify support systems that need to be put in place
 
Trainers are to adjust learning and assessment materials to suit the individuals learning needs wherever possible.
