SRC Leadership Conference Report by Poppy K.

On Tuesday last week the SRC went to a GRIP Leadership Conference at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The conference had loads to fun activities to enhance the students’ leadership knowledge. This excursion was a fun, entertaining and educational activity for the SRC. A big thankyou to Mr Woodroffe and Ms Pratt for taking us! Thank you also to all of the SRC members for coming along and representing Nakara with a positive and sensible attitude. Hopefully after this conference the SRC’s will come up with some more great ideas to further improve the school.

School Disco Summary

In week 9 we had our second Nakara school disco for the year. Everyone had an excellent time at both the early childhood and upper primary discos. On the night, the canteen was open and sold some yummy food. Miss V and Mrs Graham did a great job at the door collecting gold coin donations that go towards our SRC goals. The theme was a hero of the students choice and there were some very creative ideas matching the night's theme. A special thankyou to Mr Woodroffe for helping to organise the event and to everyone else who helped out or attended.

March 15
SRC Leadership Excursion – A Report from Kayla Hargrave

On the 5th of March the SRC representatives went to the Darwin Entertainment Centre to participate in the GRIP leadership conference. The four key values of GRIP Leadership are:
Growth – A leader who does not strive for a one off accomplishment but continually develops themselves and seeks new opportunities.
Relationship – A leader who makes their contribution alongside others.
Integrity – A leader who displays truthfulness and honesty at all times.
People – A leader who focuses their efforts on valuing and serving others.

There were students from approximately 30 schools from Darwin and Katherine attending. The students mixed in with other schools and participated in a variety of activities focusing on identifying these qualities within themselves and how they could apply them within their role as a SRC representative.
Along the way the students and staff got to participate in some really fun stuff. There was one activity where some staff looking after the students got chosen to dance on the stage to ‘’Gangnam Style’’ and Mr Woodroffe was chosen to participate. He is an awesome dancer. All students were well behaved and had a lot of fun.
