Welcome to Maningrida College. We offer primary, secondary, vocational education and homeland schooling to the Maningrida Community. The Community School is located in the community of Maningrida. The college comprises of Early Years, Primary, Middle School and Senior Secondary, Homeland Schools (10) and a Child and Family Centre. The Child and Family Centre (Integratated Services) hosts a Famililies as First Teachers programme, Creche, Preschool, Strong Young Mothers, (Kikka Mumma), programmes and Healthy Under 5's nurse.
The school commenced in 1958 as a small remote education service with one teacher. We now have a staff of approximately 75 including teachers, assistant teachers, administration, grounds and cleaning staff across the College.
Maningrida is located in Northern Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The community is 550km east of Darwin (by road) on the central Arnhem Land coast of the Arafura Sea, at the mouth of the Liverpool River. The word ‘Maningrida’ is an English version of the Ndjébbana name ‘Manayingkarírra’, which means ‘The place where the dreaming changed shape’. Maningrida College is the largest Aboriginal school in the Northern Territory.
The College includes a Maritime Academy, Learning on Country Programme, Vocational Education Programme : Hospitality, Construction and Mechanics.
