At Katherine High School teachers assess and report on the knowledge and skills that have been taught in accordance with the Achievement Standards (ACARA) or Performance Standards (NTCET) or competencies (VETiS)  required by the relevant curricula.

In Terms 2 and 4 all students undertake On Demand tests created by AUSVels and the PAT-R and PAT-M tests created by ACER. Teachers use this data to get a clearer picture of what students know and can do and what they still do not know or are not able to do in relation to skills of Numeracy and Literacy according to the Australian Curriculum. Faculties and teachers use the data from the national tests to create interventions to improve student learning and achievement. Students use this data to set goals for their learning using the “Hattie Grid.”

Katherine High School provide one written report each Semester for all students for each subject studied. A–E grades are used for Years 7-9 and A+ to E- grades are used for Stages 1 and 2.

The school provides opportunities for Parent/Teacher meetings each Term.
