School Council
Anula School has a strong and active School Council. There is a strong partnership between the school, parents and the wider community.
The School Council is made up of nineteen members, including fourteen parents, three teachers, and two invited members. The Council meets once per month over the school year, usually on the third Tuesday of each month.
The sub committees currently include:
* Sustainable Schools Group
* Early Entry focus group
* FinCom (Finance)
* Fundraising focus group
* Infrastructure Upgrade
* Grounds Group
* Uniform Group
* Pre-school committee
Anyone is welcome to attend School Council Meetings but will not have voting rights.
The School Council has the responsibility of representing the interests of students, teachers, ancillary staff and parents of the school in order to provide the best possible educational opportunities for students attending the school. We are committed to ensuring that adequate facilities and resources are available to meet student needs.
The NT Department of Employment, Education and Training has a policy of devolution of power to School Councils. While this gives much of the financial responsibility for the running of the school to the Council, it also gives more opportunities for input into the future direction of the School. The School Action Plan, available from the Front Office, gives a good idea of these opportunities. Most of Council business is handled through subcommittees and any interested person is encouraged to join these.
Council elections are held at the Annual General Meeting in March where parents are elected. The School Principal, three Anula teachers and a Preschool representative are also on Council. A complete list of Anula School Council members for 2008 appears below. To contact any of the members please contact the front ofifce and a message will be passed on to them.
