BOOKS AND READERS

The readers in our school are people, not books. Our aim is to get our children "hooked on books", so we provide them with a wide range of interesting worthwhile literature.

Sometimes your child will bring home a book that is beyond his/her reading ability.

Enjoy the book with your child.

Don't expect your child to know every word in the book. Read along with your child - pointing to each word is helpful if your child is learning to read. Supply a word if your child has difficulty. Always expect that the reading will make sense.

Remember, you were your child's first teacher and your help and encouragement are just as vital now as they were in the Pre-School years.
